PRP for Hair Restoration

PRP for Hair Restoration:

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is part of the new wave of regenerative medicine treatment solutions including stem cell therapy.

PRP has regenerative properties by releasing growth factors that repair and rejuvenate damaged tissue.

PRP for hair specifically works by re-growing hair in the scalp. Helps replenish collagen in the dermal layer of the skin where hair follicles grow. By replenishing the decreasing levels of collagen the dermis layer stays elastic and allows hair follicles to grow. PRP can only work if hair follicles are still alive . In other words PRP will not work in complete bald spots

Candidates for this treatment are those with thinning hair, not bald scalps.

The treatment is simple, quick and painless if appropriate anesthetic solutions are applied.

Blood is drawn then centrifuged PRP isolated, calcium chloride added to activate the PRP and then injected to the scalp after applying anesthetic medications on the scalp, or a scalp block is done and our preference is to use pronouns which is combination of 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen which is inhaled during the performance of the injections.

Four treatments monthly is suggested with maintenance treatment every 4-6 months.

We strongly suggest combination treatments which include:

  1. Supplements that includes biotin
  2. Minoxidil +Finasteride + /- Steroids
  3. Laser hair treatment

PRP is a very effective treatment with minimal downtime.
